It aims to ensure that information on the risks posed by chemicals is available to improve the protection of the environment and human health during handling, transport and use. GHS also provides a basis for harmonizing rules and regulations on chemicals at national, regional and global levels, an important factor also in facilitating trade. The latest edition (rev.9) was adopted in 2021.
